The transformation project bearing the signature of Gökhan Bulut, which brings Samsun's historical texture together with modern education, received great acclaim. By transforming tobacco warehouses, one of the symbolic structures of the struggle for independence, into the Samsun University Faculty of Architecture and Design, an exemplary project was realized that serves as both a sign of respect for the past and an investment in the future.
Realized within the scope of the "Architect of Civilization" project implemented with the vision of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, this transformation was honored with the first prize at the Necip Fazıl Architecture Awards. The project was found remarkable not only from an architectural point of view but also in terms of the preservation and repurposing of cultural heritage.
The project undertaken by Gökhan Bulut Design successfully reflects the concept of "building the future with respect for the past" while demonstrating the power of architecture to serve education and social memory.
